The City of Geneva Economic Development Department will organize the fourth annual “Fall in Love with Downtown Geneva” during the month of February. The month long promotion will feature prizes from participating downtown shops and restaurants for those who enter to win. Prizes will be lunch or dinner from two restaurants or a $24 gift certificate from shops. A list of participating businesses can be found at genevadowntown.org.

The Geneva Chamber of Commerce named Joe Stanton the recipient of the 2011 Wood Award. A resident of Geneva since 1984, Joe has made many contributions to Geneva ranging from volunteering on a multitude of boards, financial support, and helping new businesses get started. Joe is the owner of Fagans, Inc., located on State St. in Geneva.

The Geneva Chamber of Commerce named Jim Emma of Nova Communications the 2011 Member of the Year. Over the years Jim has lent his talents and equipment to many festival activities, served on the Membership Committee, and frequently attends Ribbon Cuttings to help welcome new businesses.

CASA Kane County recently welcomed three new board members to its Board of Directors, Dan Dolan, Jennifer Fisher and Jerry Rose. In addition, 16 new volunteers were recently sworn in. CASA Kane County is a nonprofit, volunteer organization that advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children within the Juvenile Court system.
